Balance & Fall Prevention

Targeted programs for older adults and anyone recovering from a fall or near-fall. Restoring confidence on uneven ground, stairs, and at home.

Overview

What it is.

Balance problems are not a single condition; they are usually a combination of weak hips, slower reflexes, reduced sensation in the feet, vision changes, and sometimes inner-ear issues. After 65, the risk of a fall rises sharply, and a single fall is one of the strongest predictors of the next one. The good news is that balance is highly trainable at any age, and the right work makes a real difference fast.

Our approach

How we treat it.

We start by testing what is actually driving the unsteadiness, then build a program that targets it directly: hip and ankle strength, dynamic balance on different surfaces, reaction-time drills, vestibular work where it is indicated, and home modifications when needed. The work is graded so it is challenging enough to drive change but never reckless.

The arc of care

What to expect.

Most balance programs run six to ten weeks of weekly sessions, with measurable change in confidence and standing tolerance by week four. Family members are welcome to sit in on sessions if it helps with carryover at home.
