Total Joint Replacement

Pre-surgical preparation and post-surgical recovery for hip, knee, and shoulder replacements. Restoring range, strength, and confidence at your pace.

Overview

What it is.

Total joint replacement (hip, knee, or shoulder) is one of the most successful orthopedic surgeries of the last 50 years, but the outcome depends heavily on the rehab. Patients who do focused pre-habilitation tend to recover faster, and patients who follow a structured post-op program get better long-term function. Skipping either step leaves outcomes on the table.

Our approach

How we treat it.

Before surgery we work on strength, range, and movement patterns so you go into the procedure as strong as possible. After surgery we follow your surgeon's protocol while individualizing the work to where you actually are: scar mobility, gentle range, progressive strengthening, gait normalization, and a graded return to the activities you want back.

The arc of care

What to expect.

Pre-hab is typically four to six weeks. Post-op physical therapy for hip and knee usually runs eight to twelve weeks; shoulder is longer at twelve to sixteen. By discharge most patients are back to walking, stairs, and the recreational activities they came in for.
