Physical therapy treatment for osteoporosis

Osteoporosis

Safe, structured strength and posture work to support bone health and reduce fracture risk. Built around your medical history, not a generic protocol.

Overview

What it is.

Osteoporosis is a loss of bone density that increases fracture risk, especially at the hip, spine, and wrist. It is most common after menopause and in older adults, but it can affect anyone with certain risk factors. The right kind of weight-bearing exercise actually builds bone, while the wrong kind (forward bending under load, for example) can fracture a fragile spine. The details matter.

Our approach

How we treat it.

We start by reviewing your DEXA scores and any history of fractures, then build a program around safe spinal mechanics, posture work, hip and grip strength, and weight-bearing impact graded to your bone density. We will tell you which movements to avoid at home and at the gym, and why. The work is precise.

The arc of care

What to expect.

Most patients are seen weekly for six to ten weeks to learn the program, then transition to an independent routine with check-ins as needed. Bone-density change takes years; the goal in the short term is movement competence and fall prevention.
